About us and the project

This platform is the result of the project "Network SDG City Walks Münster". The aim was to present the various city tours already existing in Münster which focus on development policy and socio-critical topics on this platform and to offer them in a joint diary. This provides a quick and up-to-date overview.

The participating groups can present themselves and their respective city tours. Applications for becoming part of the network are possible via this page. The work of the individual groups reflects the content of one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) adopted by the United Nations..

Since autumn 2022, there has been a joint city tour that makes the individual SDGs tangible and shows many positive examples in Münster's streets. Since March 2023, this tour can be used individually as a digital version.

In June 2023, the project was extended under the name "Münster Critical City Tours Network". New groups and stations have been added; a tour for younger target groups is being planned and will be offered from summer 2024. Other groups are very welcome.

Initiated and conceived by the diocese of Münster, Vamos e.V. and the  fairtrade shop "la tienda e.V.",, the project is currently based at la tienda e.V.. The projects were and are financially supported by the Foundation for Environment and Development NRW and the diocese of Münster / World Church Department.

SDG city tour Münste

The network bundles Münster city tours that address development policy, socio-critical and environmental issues and presents them on this website. Additionally, the tours focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and uses specific examples to show how people and local authorities can contribute to their implementation.

SDGs and city tours

The project falls under the umbrella of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which were adopted by the United Nations as part of the 2030 Agenda. These common goals, such as less poverty, no hunger, gender equality, sustainable cities and communities or climate protection, are intended to achieve a fairer and more sustainable world.

But what exactly does this mean, how can and should these goals be achieved and what does this mean for Münster or ourselves? These questions will be explored in particular on our joint SDG tour, which will take up the various topics of the participating groups and illustrate them with numerous positive examples in Münster's streets and municipal businesses along the tour route. During the tour we take a look at what local politics and citizens can achieve and what role each and every one of us can play in achieving the goals.
