The Romero Initiative (CIR) is a human rights organisation from Münster that has been campaigning for a fairer world since over 40 years.
To this end, it supports projects to promote human rights in Central America. The focus is on humane working conditions, e.g., in clothing production or raw materials extraction, women's self-determination, respect for the rights of indigenous people, LGBTI* people, children and young people, climate justice and strengthening civil society.
CIR also carries out campaigning and educational work in Germany and Europe: With the help of studies, brochures, videos and other educational material, events and political campaigns, CIR raises awareness of how our economic practices are linked to human and environmental rights in the Global South. And calls for political change.
Our geocache routes
As part of the EU-wide campaign "Game On - Don't let climate change end the game!" for a socially just climate transition, CIR has set up various geocaching routes in Münsterland. Geocaching is a kind of modern scavenger or treasure hunt: with the help of coordinates, you search for a container - the cache - that has previously been hidden by other geocachers in a special place. You are sent on a journey where you can get to know the Münsterland in a new way on various routes of different lengths. Along the way, you will learn more about the impact of the climate crisis on our city, our ecosystem and our everyday lives.
individual booking
The tour can be undertaken individually and in groups without prior booking. All information on the individual stations of the geo-caches can be found on the Romero Initiative website.
The main sustainability goals for these routes are SDG 7: "Affordable and clean energy", SDG 11: "Sustainable cities & communities" and SDG 13: "Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts". However, the following also applies here: the goals cannot all be clearly distinguished from one another, meaning that other goals are also addressed in some cases.
