Women's stories along the (Aa)side path

We will go in search of Hildegard von Bingen and investigate questions such as: Did women's workhouses exist in the small settlement of Mimigernaford? Was it also true for women in the Middle Ages: “City air makes you free!”? Why did beguines initially receive papal protection, but later experienced pressure and persecution? Where were the poorhouses for women located? How were the noble ladies of the Liebfrauen/Überwasser convent able to prevent their dissolution? We will answer these and other questions about the living conditions of women through the centuries along the Aa Side Trail. We will also hear about Münster's bathing establishments and the disputes about the infant care institutions between 1840 and 1860.
